Queen of Pop Madonna Turns 60 Today

Long live the queen of pop. That is right, today Madonna turns 60. She is undoubtedly the most influencial female singer of all time. Starting from her self-titiled album, that came out in 1983, Madonna has a long music legacy. She was the groudbreaker of pop music, often having some controversial videos, such as ‘Like a Prayer’ and ‘Erotica’.
Top artists, whenever asked in an interview what their favourite singer is, the majority point out that their inspiration and influence comes a lot from Madonna. Other female artists such as Beyonce, Adele, Taylor Swift are just a few that hail her.
“The thing with me and Madonna is that I admired her always and I still admire her no matter what she might think of me,”  Lady Gaga commented.
The power of Madonna does not go just for the music industry. She has had an acting career in the 80s which escalated her fame as well, being in movies such as Desperately Seeking Susan (1985) and Who’s That Girl (1987). That simply implies that she is a true artist and entertainer in all forms.
Moreover, Madonna has been a significant fashion figure. She was dressed as the late Marilyn Monroe for the music video ‘Material Girl’, the look from the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, in which Monroe wears a strapless, pink evening gown with matching long gloves, accompanied by a diamond necklace and earrings. Furthermore, Madonna had revolutional looks wearing various outfits, ranging from tutus, beads, crucifixes and pearls, lace gloves to her iconic conical Jean Paul Gaultier bustier. Undoubtedly, a fashion chameleon.
Madonna has collaborated with various artists such as Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams and Timbaland on her ‘Hard Candy’ albums, which celebrate a 10-year anniversary this year.
The pop icon is currently working on a new album, inspired by her life in Lisbon, set to come out later this year. Madonna has certainly not retired from her long musical career and will continue reigning.
