Indian actress and Hollywood star Priyanka Chopra is about to release her memoir, titled ‘Unfinished’ which will detail her meteoric rise to fame and hope to inspire people, especially women.
The memoir will detail her journey from her birth in India, to winning Miss World in 2000, to her life now as a Hollywood movie star and a combination of her personal experiences, feelings and thoughts.
‘Unfinished’ will be published simultaneously in India, the US and Britain hopefully in 2019 and is being published by Penguin Random House.
The 35-year-old actress who currently stars as FBI agent Alex Parris in ABC thriller ‘Quantico’ hopes her story will be motivational for people, “especially women”, who want to achieve their dreams and “shatter glass ceilings”.
“The flavour of the book will be honest, funny, spirited, bold and rebellious, just like me. I have always been a private person. I’ve never spoken about my feelings during my journey, but I am ready to do so now”, said Priyanka in a press release.
The ‘Baywatch’ star’s journey into motivational memoirs comes after she’s long campaigned for equality and women’s rights, and recently revealed she has been “digging her feet in” to get equality for women in the film industry.
“The flavour of the book will be honest, funny, spirited, bold, and rebellious, just like me,” said the star while talking about the content of the memoir.
Priyanka achieved fame at the age of 17 in the beauty pageant circuit when she earned the title of Miss India and the Miss World crown the following year. She went on to become an actress, producer, activist and UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
Defining as a role model to young women, editor in Chief of Penguin Random House India, Meru Gokhale said he ‘was amazed at the way young women in audience responded to Priyanka’s words’.
“At Penguin Random House India, we are committed to publishing strong female role models, and are immensely proud of having Priyanka Chopra on that list”, said the editor.
“Women are always told we can’t have everything. I want everything, and I believe anyone else can have it too. I’m proof of it”, said Chopra.
