Outrage over Tory MPs to block fire reforms

The UK’s Labour party and Grenfell campaign groups came together to condemn the Tory’s to vote against the proposal that has been placed to inquire about the source of the Grenfell fire back in 2017.

The Labour party proposed an amendment to remove the dangerous flammable claddings similar to Grenfell that exists in 80 percent of private-sector accommodation and 50 percent social-sector accommodations across the country. On Monday, Mp Felicity Buchan voted against this recommendation leading to severe backlashes.

Grenfell United expressed their outrage on Buchan’s vote to the amendments made by the Labour Party. They called out that the government has once again failed the country and secure safety for its people. The authorities have taken no actions that align with the recommendations for fire hazards as thousands continue to live in dangerous accommodations.

The victims and families of the fire accident have also expressed their disappointment in the decisions taken by Buchan. The Fire Brigades Union tweeted, calling out Boris for his cowardness and condemned the Tory MPs to take such decision.

The Labour’s deputy leader Angela Rayner reminded the government about the promises that were made in the Downing Street back on the third anniversary of the West London Blaze. In memory of the 72 people who have lost their lives and dozens more who were injured, green lights were lit with the government promised to be committed to ensuring that incidents like this never repeats itself.

So the question lies why Buchan fails to uphold these promises and voted down the amendments to implement the recommendations?
