The hiphop star Missy Elliot has selected as the first female rapper who has been nominated for the 2019 songwriter Hall of Fame and could also become the third rapper to enter the organization following recent inductees Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri according to Associated Press.
The Songwriters HOF ceremony will take place next on June 13, 2019. in New York City.Missy reported the news on her Twitter and salutes the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s other nominees including Mariah Carey, TLC lyricist Dallas Austin and also Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics.
“I am Humbly Grateful to be nominated with so many other AMAZING writers,” Missy posted on tweeter.
Throughout her 20-plus-year career, Missy has penned hit singles such as “Get Ur Freak On” and “Work It,” and written for artists including Beyoncé and Whitney Houston.
“A lot of people don’t know a lot of records that I’ve written or produced, so that’s a highlight for me as a woman,” saying this Eliot added “I always said if a man would have done half the records that I’ve done we would know about it. But we don’t know all the records I’ve done for other artists.”
