It would be easy for Canadian synth popsters Metric to become stale. Their music has often flattered to deceive and yet they always just about manage to deliver just enough to keep the ball rolling. Art Of Doubt is a bit of a cut above what they’ve tended to produce. It has some real rock fire in its belly particularly early on. The songs are strong throughout and while not all capture the imagination they do have a consistency and flow that pleases for the most part. Metric have delivered an album that shows they can move forward and have matured in a way that promises real longevity.
