Lucifer Renewed for Season 4 by Netflix

Netflix has saved Lucifer after it was recently dropped by the Fox network.
On May 11th, Fox announced they were cancelling the show, despite season three ending on a cliffhanger. Fans started a Twitter campaign.
The hashtags #SaveLucifer and #PickUpLucifer were both tweeted over a million times each, and both were the number one worldwide trending tag. There was also an online petition. Tom Ellis, who plays Lucifer himself, thanked the show’s fans for their support on Twitter.
Netflix’s decision to rescue Lucifer happened in the nick of time just as the options on the cast were about to expire at the end of Friday. The show earned mixed reviews when it debuted in 2016, but it became more confident with seasons two and three.
Based on the comic book characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Keith, and Mike Dringenberg, Lucifer follows the titular Prince of Darkness as he abandons his post in Hell and decides to live among mortals on Earth. In doing so, he kicks off his new life running a club in Los Angeles, where he teams with LAPD detective Chloe Decker (played by Lauren German) to bring murderers to justice.
Lucifer will join the ranks of series that Netflix has revived after cancellation by broadcast networks, including The Killing, Arrested Development, and Longmire. There are also some rumors that another cancelled show, Designated Survivor, may find a new home at Netflix.
While Netflix has yet to announce when Lucifer’s next season will air, this does mark the first time the streaming service has licensed a DC Comics property. Currently, Netflix has been the home for Marvel TV shows like Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Daredevil, The Punisher and The Defenders.
