The person who had hacked Jennifer Lawrence and other celebrities’ accounts and leaked private photos, will be sentenced to 8 months in jail. He had reportedly had access to 240 private Apple iCloud accounts, not just famous people but ordinary internet users, having their information spread across the web.
George Garofano (26) was one of four people, that was caught leaking photos of not only Jennifer Lawrence, but Kate Upton and Kirsten Dunst as well. Garofano had pleaded guilty in April, admitted to having sent emails, pretending to be a member of Apple’s online security, aiming to get people’s usernames and passwords.
Moreover, Lawrence has accused this as a sex crime and invasion of privacy. Even though prosecutors argued that Garofano was supposed to be sentenced between 10 and 16 months but he is set to be in jail for 8 months.
“Mr Garofano’s offence was a serious one. He illegally hacked into his victims’ online accounts, invaded their privacy, and stole their personal information, including private and intimate photos”, the prosecution wrote.
