George Harrison's Cavern Club Guitar is at Auction for $500,000

The iconic guitar played by George Harrison during the Beatles’ final appearance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool way back in 1963, is about to go to auction in September where the value is expecting $500,000.
Harrison who died in 2001, played it on a few more performances while his regular guitar was being repaired which was last photographed with it at The Beatles final performance at The Cavern Club on August 3 1963.
After he returned it to the shop it was bought by guitarist Roy Barber of Dave Berry And The Cruisers who later went on to use it with his other bands. The guitar was left in storage until 2000 and was then moved to The Beatles Story museum and eventually sold in 2015 for ÂŁ373,000.
“After the Maton was returned to Barratts, Dave Berry and The Cruisers guitarist Roy Barber swapped it for his Fender Stratocaster”, claimed by a sales listing “He was told that the guitar was The Maton used by Harrison. Barber used the guitar for several years, later putting it into storage”.
The Maton previously being sold in 2015 for $485,000, leading to this new guide price. The current lot includes a postcard showing Harrison with the guitar, along with letters of authenticity from two of Barber’s bandmates.
The auction, which takes place on Sept. 12-13, also features a Pink Floyd amplifier, and guitars owned by Steve Howe and Maurice Gibb.
