GdaƄsk Mayor Pawel Adamowicz Stabbed in Charity Event: Poland

PaweƂ Adamowicz, the mayor of the northern Polish city of GdaƄsk was stabbed in abdomen by a man with a knife, on Sunday while he was on the stage attending the finale of a charity event in Poland.
The 27-year-old suspect suddenly rushed on the stage, stabbed him with a sharp tool infront of thousands of people and Pawel Adamowicz grabbing his belly fell down on stage during the “Lights to Heaven.”
The mayor soon taken to the hospital in serious conditon and the mayor was given 41 units of blood during the five hour operation “The patient is alive but is in a very serious condition,” Dr. Tomasz Stefaniak, Medical University of Gdansk informed the reporters.
“Doctors succeeded in reanimating the heart of the seriously injured Mayor Pawel Adamowicz and there is hope, but his condition is very difficult,” saying this Polish President Andrzej Duda added,
“Today I am unconditionally with him and his loved ones, just as I hope all of us compatriots are. I pray for his return to health and full strength.”
“Shocked to hear of the attack on PaweƂ Adamowicz, Mayor of GdaƄsk, this evening, “Sending best wishes for his swift recovery, and solidarity to the city he leads, his family and supporters,” Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London wrote on Twitter.
According to police, the attack have been pre-planned. The attacker manage to access on the stage and also to address the crowd in the aftermath has raised serious questions about security, which was provided by a private firm.
Joachim Brudzinski , the country’s interior minister called the stabbing “an act of inexplicable barbarity.”
