“Gay Footballer” Removes Twitter Account After Changing Decision to Come Out

An anonymous guy who claimed to be a championship footballer announced on the social media to come out as gay has deleted his twitter account after changing the decision to reveal the truth.
Saying “I’m not strong enough to come out” the footballer deleted the twitter account which known as The “Gay Footballer” on Tuesday evening the day before he was suppose to reveal his identity.
But having promised a news conference and media interviews, the purported footballer said he couldn’t reveal his identity.
The account opened this month and was followed by almost 50,000 people where the player had previously declared his decision in a series of tweets to become the first active professional footballer since 1990 to come out as gay whilst playing in the top four divisions of the game.
“Call me all the names under the sun, belittle me and ridicule me, a lot will, and I can’t change that, but I’m not strong enough to do this. Just remember that I’ve got feelings, without coming out I can’t convince anybody otherwise, but this isn’t a hoax. I wouldn’t do that.”
Before deleting his account, the man’s Twitter bio read: “I’m a professional footballer, currently playing in The Championship. I will reveal my identity soon, but I am a PROUD gay man.”
Thousands of social media users and Some footballer like Marvin Sordell, who plays forward for Burton Albion, tweeted their support on twitter.
“Wish you nothing but good fortune with this next step in life,” saying this Sordell added,
“So many things will be said, but your vulnerability in this situation is such a powerful sign of your strength! I’ve got huge respect for you doing something that is monumental for our sport.”
