After the news of Scott Huchison’s tragic death, Frank Turner took to the stage during his Roundhouse gig on Friday to share an emotional tribute to the late singer by covering Frightened Rabbit track ‘The Modern Leper’.
The Frightened Rabbit singer’s body was found on 11 May in Port Edgar, after a two-day search and Frank dedicated a cover of the band’s hit on the same day.
“We’ve got to the bit of the set now that I can only describe as a little difficult,” said Turner said before the track adding, “I had some sad news this morning about my friend Scott Hutchison from the band Frightened Rabbit”.
By posting a photo on social media Frank Turner wrote “What a life. What a shining, beautiful life. I remember Scott giving great Scottish hugs, cracking jokes, apologising for being drunk, always being kind. He lit up the sky with his voice, his songs, his heart, and I will forever be in awe of his genius”.
After his emotional speech and beautiful gesture, fans flocked to Twitter to praise Frank for sharing such a beautiful tribute to the 36-year-old.
“I don’t want to talk about death tonight, ladies and gentlemen, I want to talk about life! Scott was one of my fucking favourite people in the world. He was my friend and I was inspired by him” said Turner while ending her emotional speech.
