French robber Redoine Faid, arrested from the Oise region north of Paris along with his brother and nephew, prosecutor Francois Molins told in a press conference.
The gangstar made a Hollywood-esque helicopter jailbreak. He escaped from jail three months before. He made a very dramatic escape.
Two men acting as flight school students, forced a helicopter instructor at gunpoint to fly them to the jail.
The helicopter was found abandoned and torched in Garges-les-Gonesse, a town in the suburbs north of Paris. A abandoned car also found by which Faid transferred after helicopter.
Faid was punished for 25 years prison because of masterminding a botched robbery in which a policewoman was killed in 2010. In the 1990s he ran a gang involved in armed robbery and extortion.
French special forces arrested Redoine Faid from an apartment located in the city of Creil,on Wednesday at 4 am local time, in the northern suburbs of Paris.
“We’re going to put him in a high-security facility where he will be watched extremely closely,” said French justice minister Nicole Belloubet.
French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said “Redoine Faid’s arrest shows, once again, the professionalism of French police. Congratulations to investigators for their meticulous work, and to French special forces for arresting him without any incident.”
In July investigators found a stash of guns, masks and a cement cutter in the Oise region, which they believed belonged to his gang.
Weapons were also seized in the raid on Tuesday night in the town of Creil.
