The digital edition of the Sundance Film festival will be held across three days in the upcoming month of August. Anika Khan reports.
The Sundance Film Festival was previously canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, however, it has now been rescheduled and will be held online this August.
The organisers of Sundance partnered with Picturehouse to plan this year’s virtual edition so that people can still enjoy the festival from the safety of their homes. The festival this year is set to premiere three independent films:
7th August: Uncle Frank 20:00 BST
Directed by Alan Ball, this 2020 comedy drama features Paul Bettany and Sophia Lillis.

8th August: Luxor 20:00 BST
The film stars Andrea Riseborough, Janie Aziz, and Shahira Famy. It is directed and written by Zienna Durra.

9th August: Boy State 20:00 BST
Boy state is a documentary directed by Amanda McBaine and Jesse Moss. It won the Grand Jury Prize of the U.S. Documentary Competition.

Eight additional short films from the UK will also be featured at this festival. Audiences can expect productive discussion panels and enjoy exclusive Q&A’s sessions with the cast and the crew members of the films.
The director of Sundance has said: “Although we will not be gathering in person, the power of the work remains undimmed and we’re eager for it to reach audiences in the comfort and safety of their homes.”
The tickets for the events are sold at £20 for the non-members and £14 pounds for the members of the Picturehouse.
