Designer Kate Spade Found Dead in NY Home: Police Suspecting Suicide

Fashion designer Kate Spade, one of the biggest names in American fashion industry, was found dead Tuesday in New York after committing suicide, according to law enforcement officials.
According to her sister, the 55-years-old designer and businesswoman, who built a fashion empire on her signature handbags, was suffering with manic depression but refused to get help in case it damaged her brand.
“We honor all the beauty she brought into this world,” read a statement released by Kate Spade New York in the hours after her death became known.
An officials said the body of Spade was found by housekeeping staff inside her Park Avenue apartment at about 10.20am on Tuesday with a not which they are suspecting can reveal the reason of her terrible decision.
The designer is reported to have told her 13-year-old daughter Frances Beatrix “not to blame herself” in a note found close to her body.
It comes as other media reports suggest Spade and her husband – who is the brother of actor David Spade – were having possible marital problems.
The American designer co-founded her namesake company Kate Spade New York with her husband Andy in the 1990s, and opened her first store in 1996 which now grows more than 300 branches worldwide.
“We are all devastated by today’s tragedy,” said the Spade family said in a statement “we loved Kate dearly and will miss her terribly. We would ask that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this very difficult time”.
