"David Bowie Is" Exhibit at Brooklyn Museum Until July 15th

New York City isn’t lacking in the exhibits department, but every once in a while, you get one that is something so special, you wouldn’t mind making a return visit. The “David Bowie Is” exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum appears to be one of those exhibits.
Celebrating one of the most iconic rock stars of the century, “David Bowie Is” explores the late stars life through fashion and his personal archive. Viewers will get to see handwritten lyrics, set designs, costumes from some of his tours, visuals of past performances, and over 300 other items throughout his life and career. The exhibit is not only for hardcore David Bowie fans, but invites people to come and see inside the mind of a musical legend.
Constructed by the Victoria and Albert Museum of London and curated by Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh, the exhibit, having already visited Paris, Berlin, Toronto, Bologna, will be making its very last stop at the Brooklyn Museum.
Matthew Yokobosky, Director of the Exhibition Design at the Brooklyn Museum, organized the exhibit at the museum. “With mainstream appeal and yet an avant-garde heart, David Bowie was one of the most original artists of our times. He challenged the status quo and continually took us on new musical explorations with his forward-thinking and groundbreaking presentations. David Bowie continues to be the apex for many artists in wide-ranging disciplines.”
The exhibit will be open at the Brooklyn Museum until July 15th. For more information, head to www.brooklynmuseum.org.
