‘The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows’ is the title track of Damon Albarn’s new album. The album is the follow-up of his 2014’s “Everyday Robots”. The Britpop legend is all set to drop his proper solo album in November 2021.
Damon Albarn took to his twitter handle to share the news with his fans. He wrote:
Damon Albarn has been pointing his place in the world rather than staying at home and hoping that some good will appear when the pandemic ends. He announced that the album is the result of his imagination during the past year-plus the chaos that has been taken place across the globe.
He said that he intended an orchestral piece form to be “inspired by the landscapes of Iceland.” He said, “last year has seen a return to the music in lockdown and he got the time to work on 11 new tracks. Further exploring themes of fragility, loss, emergence, and rebirth.
In a statement about the album, Damon Albarn said,
“I have been on my dark journey while making this record and it led me to believe that a pure source might still exist.”
The first preview of the record is super sophisticated and includes a touching title track. Listen to the track below:
Before a run of solo tour in early 2022, Damon Albarn plans to release ‘The Nearer The Fountain, The More Pure The Stream Flows’ on November 12 via Transgressive Records. Gorillaz will headline The O2 in London on August 11.
