The Half-God of Rainfall

Author: Inua Ellams
The Half-God of Rainfall is an epic story and a lyrical exploration of pride, power and female revenge. Central character Demi looks like any other boy in his village but he is different. His feelings often come along with rain clouds and floods. When he embarks on a successful basketball career he catches the attention of the Gods. Demi’s mother is his fiercest protector and will go the distance to ensure her son’s safety. She will sacrifice everything to protect her son, but she knows the Gods will one day tire of sports fans, their fickle allegiances, and misdirected prayers. When that moment comes, it won’t matter how special he is. Written in verse, The Half-God of Rainfall is a short yet powerful story of motherly love and the strength of women. It is incredibly lyrical, imaginative, allegorical and very arty.
