Unbelievably, today marks the 250th anniversary of circus. In order to celebrate this milestone, whilst also emphasising the fact that the theme of Bestival for 2018 is actually Circus, the show organisers are arranging for a Human Cannonball to enter the show’s programme.
In an exciting festival first, Rodrigo Pérez will act as a human cannonball in an act that will delight and amaze the audience in equal measure. It is true that Bestival has always gone the extra mile to make an impact by incorporating immersive theatre, and the next showcase will maintain this tradition with the addition of this incredible Circus performance.
Bestival 2018 will take place on the Lulworth Estate in Dorset from 2 – 5 August, during which Rodrigo will take part in one of the most dangerous and daring acts ever to grace the circus. This will see him fly up to 25 metres through the air!
When commenting on his participation, Rodrigo said: “Firing yourself out of an enormous cannon takes a man of a high calibre. Luckily, I’m a cannonball kind of guy. Come and be amazed as I shoot through the sky, flying over your crazy, smiling faces.”
You will not want to miss out on the human cannonball, or any of the other amazing acts that will be unveiled at the festival. Other delights include sword swallowers and bearded ladies as well as, of course, an all-encompassing line-up of music artists and various other circus feats.
