Batman Prequel Series 'Pennyworth' has been Announced

As Batman fans will soon be saying goodbye to Gotham, MGM-owned network EPIX has announced a new 10-episode series called “Pennyworth” which will focus on the life of Bruce Wayne’s butler and will be an origin story about Batman’s best friend and butler, Alfred Pennyworth.
The famously chill butler is a former British Army Special Air Service soldier who “forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne, Bruce’s billionaire father.”
“As genuine fans of these classic DC characters, as well as the incredibly talented Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, we couldn’t be more excited to make EPIX the home of this series”, said Michael Wright, the President of EPIX.
“We can’t wait to work with Bruno and Danny – along with Peter Roth, Susan Rovner, Brett Paul and the team at Warner Horizon – on this fantastic origin story”, he added in his statement.
The show will take place in a completely new universe, despite being penned and executive produced by Gotham show-runner, Bruno Heller.
“Michael and his colleagues have created the perfect venue for original storytelling, and all of us working on Pennyworth are thrilled to be on the Epix slate,” Heller and Cannon said in a joint statement.
