At least 300 Protesters along with Amy Schumer Arrested at Anti-Kavanaugh Protest

Hundreds of demonstrators, including comedian Amy Schumer, were arrested at the US Capital in Washington on Thursday after staging a thunderous protest at the Hart Senate Office Building opposing Judge Brett Kavanaugh, President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee who faces allegations of sexual misconduct.
They had first protested outside the Supreme Court after matching from the federal appeals’ court where Mr Kavanaugh has spent the last 12 years.
“I believe that the federal government is not addressing the sexual assault epidemic that has been allowed to happen,” a 21-year-old protester from California, who asked not to be identified, told The Independent.
Karen Bralove, an alumna of Holton-Arms said “It’s time for women to be heard,”. The all-girls preparatory school Ford attended in the early 1980s when she alleges Kavanaugh attempted to rape her.
The protesters made their way to the court, they handed out posters of an artist’s rendition of a young woman confronting senator Jeff Flake in an elevator in the senate last week after it was announced the Republican senator planned to vote in favour of Mr Kavanaugh.
It was immediately unclear how many demonstrators had been arrestd. As she was led out by officers, Schumer raised a fist and applauded as other women were picked up and led away.
Many of them intended to share stories of how they were sexually assaulted.
“The state of Alaska has the highest sexual assault rate in the country. I’m a survivor myself. I don’t know any Alaska native women who aren’t,” Evans said. “It’s been hard watching what’s been going on (in Washington), so we wanted to come and make sure our stories were heard.”
