Art Event Raises Awareness of Zambia Charity Work

An inspiring art event is upcoming, and this exhibition is one that will make a difference by raising awareness.
Tim Benson and Orbis present Visions of Zambia, a free-to-attend event taking place from 12 – 17 March at the Mall Galleries in London.
The artist, Tim Benson, is renowned for his figurative works and also for his status as the Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. The talented creative also goes out of his way to work alongside charities and NGOs, and this is an example of one of his community-focused projects.
The purpose of his ventures is to tell the stories of people from around the world with expressive art. With the internationally operational charity Orbis Tim is set to highlight their efforts in assisting those in Zambia.
At Visions of Zambia there will be 20 oil portraits on display, each just as touching and beautifully crafted as the other. What’s more, 80% of the profits made from every masterpiece sold will go to Orbis, the charity that works with many of the world’s leading ophthalmologists and nurses to deliver surgery to children and adults suffering from eye problems.
Zambia is one of the poorest countries in the world, and shocking statistics have revealed that children living there are 4 times more likely to go blind than those in developed countries.
Orbis allows the individuals residing in this poverty-stricken area the access to the quality eye care that they are desperately in need of. With the work of Tim Benson the organisation are hoping that more people can become aware of the blindness problems sweeping Zambia and the work they are doing to change this.
Tim commented: “Painted portraits speak to people in a way that the written word and photography cannot. My exhibitions engage people with important global challenges and build awareness through painting.”
