A Pad that’s Good for Body & Good for the Earth

The dominance of toxic chemicals in today’s world is no longer a question.  The comments above could apply to any number of items – from the food we eat and the cleaning products in our homes, to our medicine and makeup.  It may come as a surprise to learn that they are also in our menstrual products, a such as disposable pads and tampon.
Each pad is comparable to four plastic bags.  Multiply this by the months a person menstruates over their lifetime can add up to a staggering mountain of plastic waste.  Once in a landfill, a disposable pad can take up to 800 years to decompose.  And if not landfill, incinerated releasing toxic ash and fumes, or flushed away blocking sanitation and plumbing systemsIn rural areas where there is no formal waste management system, this problem is multiplied, often compromising women’s health.
For centuries and across cultures, menstruation has been veiled in secrecy, with many people feeling shame at this natural process. It’s time for this to change. Using cloth pads can prevent thousands of tons of non-biodegradable sanitary waste around the world each month – it takes 500-800 years to decompose a disposable! Cloth pads that are disposable and not harmful as sanitary napkins are highly encouraged to use as it is eco-friendly and non-toxic too.
And the journey to bring changes has already been started where we can find men’s are also joining. And the of joining the other half with women to build up consciousness and the importance of using healthy and environmentally friendly products is required to sustain the change.
