Sunday Social: 5 Games to Play Online

People are bored whilst self-isolating and working from home. They are constantly looking for new ways to spend their time. Frankie Rudland brings you the top 5 online games that you may enjoy whilst you’re stuck at home!

Outriders

Set on the hostile planet Enoch, you’ll embark on a treacherous quest to reach the heart of a mysterious signal that has brought death and destruction to the Outriders. You can choose to fight your way their using four unique classes, each with their own devastating abilities, fusing heavy weaponry and element-bending powers to create a sci-fi powerhouse. If you’re a fan of Gears of War and Destiny, then you’ll love the brutal, mechanical carnage that People Can Fly have brought to the table with this looter and shooter. Released at the start of the month, this is already on the market, so get stuck in.

Judgement Remastered

I know it can feel a little underwhelming when we have hopes of new content in remastered games dashed by the reality of it being a simple graphical tweak but hear me out. Coupled with the new gen console’s jaw dropping graphics, I genuinely feel there is still plenty to get excited about with this one. Imagine walking the bustling streets of Kamurocho as Takayuki Yagami in 60 FPS, discovering all of the city’s secrets while reliving a campaign that felt more like a movie than your typical video game storyline. If you’ve yet to play it, then this one is a must, releasing on the 21st of April on PS5 and XBOX series X|S, you haven’t got long to wait either.

Resident Evil Village

Ladies and gentlemen, Resident Evil is back. Capcom are bringing us the tenth major instalment of the series, where we follow on from the plotline set in Biohazard, playing as chief protagonist Ethan Winters who continues his plight in search of his daughter. Far from the familiarity of previous settings, the village that Ethan now finds himself in is somewhere in a snow-laden corner of Eastern Europe, which is sure to bring fresh horrors and mysteries. Capcom have teased us with a few nuggets of information so far, including clips of wild beasts that are known as Lycans, who are the main threat to Ethan in the village, so you’ll be having a fair amount of trouble with them during your journey through the game. We’re just round the corner from the game’s release on the 7th of May, so all I’ll say is good luck…you’ll need it.

Rust

You’ve all waited ever so patiently for this one but fear not; the time has almost come. Rust will officially be available on consoles from the 21st of May, and I for one am incredibly exited. A new dawn for the game brings all of the same tests for your survival instincts, with thirst, starvation and bears just some of the obstacles that you’ll have to overcome. However, as was ever the case, fellow humans still remain the chief threat, so keep your eyes peeled at all times for any clans that are on the hunt for loot.

Legend of Zelda

Breath of the Wild- It’s an action-adventure based game, published by Nintendo. Breath of the Wild is a perfect escape from reality, offering you an epic adventure full of content and an extremely large map to explore. Tasks include collecting multipurpose items to aid in objectives or solving puzzles and side quests for rewards. The story will sweep you up and you’ll never want to leave Hyrule.
