Dinosaur Dreams: Imagination and Creation of the Lost World (Ueno Royal Museum)
The Ueno Royal Museum presents a special exhibition exploring the changes in the depiction of dinosaurs and other ancient creatures: from the bizarre reconstructions of the 19th century to the vibrant, dynamic dinosaur paintings of the 20th century by Charles R. The inaugural show at ArtHouse, the visual arts gallery at the newly opened NMACC, Sangam brings together works by Indian and Western artists including Ranjani Shettar, Bhupen Khakhar, Cecily Brown, Anselm Kiefer and Raqib Shaw. Curated by Jeffrey Deitch and Ranjit Hoskote, the exhibition draws from India’s diverse traditions and showcases the best of South Asian and Western artists and their works that transcend a single medium, style or theme in a celebration of the best of South Asian art as well as art inspired by India.

Maharaja’s Treasure: Select Works of Art from the Famed Air India Collection at NGMA, Mumbai
From the time of its inception, Air India has always been a great patron of the arts and its offices have always been adorned with paintings and artworks from around the country. And now this collection is up for viewing at one of Mumbai’s largest galleries. Acquired over a time period spanning eighty years, the airline’s vast collection includes paintings by Indian masters such as V S Gaitonde, M F Husain, Pilloo Pochkhanawala, K H Ara and Anjolie Ela Menon; Phad and Pichwai paintings of Rajasthan; Kalamkaris from Andhra Pradesh; Thanjavur gilded and glass paintings; and a number of textiles, jewels and decorative art from around the subcontinent. Here’s a chance to marvel at these splendours of Indian creativity, as the exhibition takes you through the pages of our artistic history with the Maharaja’s collection.

Tiona Nekkia McClodden’s new work at Kunsthalle Basel explores sexuality intersections. It’s their first solo exhibition in Europe, showcasing sculpture, paintings, video, and performance.
