Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams

Venue: Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo

Schedule: December 21 (Wed) 2022 – May 28 (Sun) 2023

The exhibition “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams” will visit Tokyo after stops in Paris, London, and New York. The exhibition, which honors the 70th anniversary of Dior, will include pieces by photographer Yuriko Takagi as well as accessories and haute couture models from the past and present. A segment of the exhibition will also focus on former artistic directors including Yves Saint Laurent and Raf Simons. Be sure to attend “Wendelien Van Oldenborgh, Unset on-set” at the same location as well.

Atsushi Suwa Exhibition

Venue: Fuchu Art Museum

Schedule: December 17 (Sat) 2022 – February 26 (Sun) 2023

Atsushi Suwa, a realist painter, also displayed pieces based on extensive research and interviews. Suwa’s paintings of historical figures and portraits of the deceased will be on display at the Fuchu Art Museum with his most recent works produced during the epidemic and a project dedicated to his grandmother, who passed away in Manchuria shortly after the war due to illness.

Focusing on the Terunuma Collection, Post-War Japanese Printmaking Developments

Venue: Museum of Modern Art, Ibaraki

Schedule: December 24 (Sat) 2022 – February 5 (Sun) 2023

Based on donations from collectors and the museum’s own collection, the Museum of Modern Art, Ibaraki, is presenting a new program that introduces the evolution of Japanese prints in the postwar era. Even though prints were not well-known in prewar Japanese art, they were more well-known after the war as artists started showing their work at international exhibits. Prints by Koshiro Onchi, Shiko Munakata, and many more artists will be included in this exhibition.

Beyond the Realm of Meditation by Yokoo Tatsuhiko

Venue: Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art

Schedule: December 17 (Sat) 2022 – January 22 (Sun) 2023

Yokoo, who was born in Fukuoka in 1928, spent his formative years in modern-day Kitakyushu until relocating to Switzerland in 1965. Yokoo displayed his works in Japan, Switzerland, the United States, Germany, Austria, and other European nations. His stunningly stunning paintings with biblical and mythological subjects garnered international recognition. The works left at his Japanese studio will be the main focus of this exhibition. The exhibition will also visit other locations, including Hayama and the Museum of Modern Art.
