We’re Halfway Through 2025 and Already it’s Going Completely MentalĀ
We’re almost halfway through 2025 and from what I’ve seen so far if i had to pick a few words to describe it it would be this; something of a barmy road trip. I can just as easily look back on everything that’s happened since just after New Year’s Day and could pluck a few examples and quite easily say that certain parts of our political system have been changed, and not in a good way I might add.
Up to this date here’s a few things I canthink of where society has a bit bonkers, and that’s just me trying to put it across in a polite way.
– reversal and some of the rights for Transgender Women.
I just find it astonishing that one of the people who helped get this crazed ideology across is the same one who used literature to help create a safe space for people who feel like outcasts in society using magic as a metaphor
– the infamous meeting between Trump and Zelensky.
Well we say meeting but let’s be honest now and call it out for what it actually was, an ambush in which Trump and his team basically ganged up on Zelensky. If that was in the playground or class we’d be calling it bullying. Just because they’re adults and it was in the Oval Office doesn’t make it not bullying
– Starmer’s u-turn on Transgender Rights.
Up until recently the leader of the Labour Party had been supportive over Transgender Community and had been vocal about his support. Unfortunately, he went back on this and joined up with the many headcases who had gone into this warped notion about what defines a woman and safe spaces for Cisgender women.
I will be completely open about this and say that when he declared his support for the Transgender Community, especially Trans Women as they seem to be the ones being attacked (I do wonder though how much aggro Trans Men will face over the same issue). One of the things I inevitably asked myself was whether he really did have their backs and keeled to certain public pressures or it was all just so show to try and get a few extra votes
– Cuts affecting the Disability Community
This was in the East Midlands Region when i first heard about it and involved cuts to transportation that is used by children in education with disabilities and special needs. As someone who is part of the Disability Community I was deeply disappointed by this as the transport services help form part of numerous lifelines for them. This really disappointed me as the circumstances of those whom this affects hadn’t been taken into consideration. I know from experience that those within the Disability Community already put up with enough rubbish as it is, they certainly don’t need things that provide vital links taken away.
And to top it off we now have situations of the DEI Program being removed by order of Trump himself. For those of you not in the know DEI stands for Diversity, Equality and Inclusion. Sadly, and as has been the case in the past few months there has been this ongoing dispute between, as I call them, the Moaners and the Woke Patrol. Now from the Moaners perspective the Woke Patrol constantly go on and on about gender recognition, Black Lives Matter, the Non-binary palaver and Disability represent and feel that it’s being shoved down their throats. From the Woke Patrol perspective the Moaners are generally just arrogant, inconsiderate, rude and discriminate.
Now the point of the DEI Program is to help ensure that the people from all backgrounds, religion, gender identity, orientation, ethnicity, sex, disability and age are all treated fairly and with respect. Now a lot of you will probably look at that and wonder what the problem is, unfortunately this is where something’s happened in the process and anyone on the outside has looked inwards thinking that the DEI is being used to fill some sort of quota.
Hands up, i wasn’t there when this was implemented but I’m fairly sure that it wasn’t because there was a bunch of people in an office racking their brains over staff numbers thinking that they need to top up the numbers for people of colour, wheelchair users and LGBT+ people. If anything it’s to ensure that there’s a level field for us all to be in
At the rate things are going I’m not holding out much hope that things will improve for the better until those in power actually buck their ideas up
