The 18th edition of Dhaka International Film Festival concluded with its award giving ceremony on Sunday at the National Museum Auditorium in Shahbag.
The Best Film Award in Bangladesh Panaroma Section went to No Dorai, directed by Taneem Rahman Angshu, while Best Audience Award in the Cinema of the World section went to Finally Bhalobasha, directed by Anjan Dutt.
Loknat, directed by Iranian director Mohammadreza Haji Gholami, won the Best Children Film Badal Rahman Award, while The Stamp and Beloved won the Best Short Film Award and the Best Documentary Award respectively.
In the Women Film-makers Section, various awards went to films like My Name is Petya, Video Tape, The Whale and the Raven, and Tiny Souls.
Arezoo Ariapoor, Fereshta Afshar and Hasiba Ebrahimi have jointly won the Best Actress Award for their performances in Hava, Maryam, Ayesha, a production of Iran, Afghanistan and France. Filipino actor Louise Abuel won the Best Actor Award for his performance in Edward.
The Best Screenplay Award went to Huseyin Karabey for the Turkish film İçerdekiler, while the Best Cinematographer Award went to Swapnil Shete and Akshay Indikar for the Indian film Trijya. The Sri Lankan film Children of the Sun received the Special Jury Mention.
The closing ceremony was attended by Information Minister Hasan Mahmud and State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid.
Rainbow Film Society has been organizing the Dhaka International Film Festival since 1992. This year’s motto was “Better Film, Better Audience and Better Society.”
