Yara Shahidi will play Tinker Bell in live action remake

Disney’s latest live-action remake is “Peter Pan and Wendy” and will star Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell. Shahidi will join Jude Law (Captain Hook), Alexander Maloney (Peter Pan), and Ever Anderson (Wendy) as the first person of colour to play the role.

The 20 year old actress has also starred in Grown-ish, Wizards of Waverly Place, and Bad Teacher.

To share to news of her first feature film, Shahidi shared a picture of her to Instagram wearing the colours of the iconic character and the caption “lettssssgoooo”.

The news comes after Halle Bailey was cast as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, the first person of colour to portray a classic Disney Princess.

Not much is known about “Peter Pan and Wendy” but, if it follows in the footsteps of recent live action remakes, which include Lion King and Aladdin, then we can expect big things.
