X-Men Actress Fan Bingbing Missing after being Accused of Tax Fraud Allegations

China’s highest-paid movie star Fan Bingbing, who has not been seen in recent months may have been detained for alleged tax fraud.
The star has been a longstanding household name in China for years and broke into Hollywood with a role in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ as Clarice Ferguson/Blink in the 2014 blockbuster.
Previous year, she topped a Forbes list of China’s top-earning celebrities with income of 300 million yuan (£33.5m).
But she is not seen in recent months, following allegations of tax evasion so there is an assumption that she may have been detained by Chinese authorities.
Photos posted online by former state TV presenter Cui Yongyuan purportedly show evidence of Fan receiving unauthorised contract payments – although the claims were dismissed as ‘slander’.
China’s State news agency Xinhua reported in June that the government and the film and broadcast regulator was taking new steps in tackle tax evasion and excessive pay within the entertainment industry.
The actress is one of the leading international stars casts in the upcoming Hollywood spy thriller 355, alongside starring Jessica Chastain and Penelope Cruz.
