X Factor Winner Matt Terry to Star in Madagascar: The Musical

Winner of 2016 X-Factor Matt Terry is set to play Alex the Lion in the stage adaptation of the animated movie Madagascar.
‘Madagascar: The Musical’ will open on 16 July, and will find its way to the Palace Theatre Manchester from 14 August to 18 August.
Matt Terry himself has been hard at work since he won X-Factor. After his first single, ‘When Christmas Comes Around’, which was written by Ed Sheeran, he released his debut album ‘Trouble’ in November 2017. His first single for the album, ‘Sucker For You’ has been listened almost 60 million times on Spotify. After that he featured on Enrique Iglesias’s ‘Subeme La Radio’ with Sean Paul also making an appearance.
“It’s a childhood memory for all of us!” he says of this upcoming role. “I can’t wait to be playing the lead role of Alex and bringing him to life. Expect incredible costume, set and cast. And the music is immense! It will be an awesome night for everyone to enjoy. See you all there.”
Alongside Matt, the cast will include Antoine Murray-Straughan, Timmika Ramsay, Jamie Lee-Morgan, Shane McDaid, Laura Johnson, Jessica Niles, Victoria Boden, Matthew Pennington and Darren John.
The musical adapts DreamWorks’ now iconic animated motion picture Madagascar, following all of the familiar faces as they escape their comfortable home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves across the ocean in Madagascar, where a megalomaniac lemur runs everything.
The adventure for the whole family is put together by Selladoor Family, who are behind James And The Giant Peach, Seussical and The Owl And The Pussycat, and Hartshorn – Hook, producers of the Olivier Award winning Rotterdam, Murder Ballad, Urinetown and American Idiot
The director is award-winning Kirk Jameson with choreography from Fabian Aloise. The team also includes Tom Rogers, set and costume designer, Howard Hudson, lighting designer, Chris Whybrow, sound designer, Mark Crossland, music supervisor, and Emma Brunton, puppet director.
