Roman Reigns made a shock return to close the show on WWE Summerslam 2020 in the new Thunderdome. Charlie Griffiths Reports.
The Pre-Show featured Apollo Crews defending his United States Title successfully to MVP in a quick but intense brawl.
The show then started with one of the two Asuka matches on the night where she failed to beat long-standing rival Bayley for the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
The Street Profits then took on Angel Garza and Andrade for the Raw Tag Team Titles in a rivalry based on poisonings. It was the Ford and Dawkins (Street Profits) who picked up the win and retained their belts.
In a Loser Leaves WWE match, Mandy Rose beat her best friend turned bitter enemy, Sonya Deville, with the use of chairs and tables, marking the end of Deville in the company.
Next, Rey Mysterio’s son Dominik made his in-ring debut in defeat to Seth Rollins with the help of his “disciple” Murphy and handcuffs that kept Rey from interfering.
In her second match of the night, Asuka won back her Raw Women’s Title by beating Sasha Banks who was without the usual help from her best friend Bayley.
Then, Scottish born WWE Champion Drew McIntyre successfully beat WWE veteran Randy Orton to retain his title in a long hard-hitting affair.
In the nights main event, The Fiend won his Universal Championship back in a Falls Count Anywhere victory over Braun Strowman all before Roman Reigns returned to spear both men and end the show with the belt held high.
