Wolves and Bears in the UK ?

By Shayan Shakir

European brown bears and grey wolves, two large, extinct predators that once roamed the British woodlands, are set to return to the UK once again and co-exist.

The Wild Place Project, will house the brown bear which went extinct in the British isles about a 1,000 years ago and the mighty grey wolf which went extinct in the British isles in the 17thcentury. The project aspires to give visitors a glimpse of how the woods that once covered much of the UK looked like, in terms of the tall oak and ash trees that made up the woodlands and also the wildlife that inhabited them.

The Wild Place Project may also spark debates about re-wilding schemes and introduce animals such as bears, wolves and lynxes.
