What do you need to know about the ‘FRIENDS’ Reunion Special!

After HBO Max announced an official ‘FRIENDS’ Reunion to celebrate its 25 years, fans have been highly anticipating the return of the six major stars to share the big screen again. The one-off special which was due to be filmed in May was postponed because of the Coronavirus. David Schwimmer, who plays Ross Geller has taken to his social media to announce that they are looking forward to starting filming for the special reunion from August. Anika Khan reports.

Here are the things that we know about the ‘FRIENDS’ Reunion so far!


• The 6 original ‘FRIENDS’ stars (Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer) will return for the reunion documentary for the first time since the hit series’ 2004 finale.

• Marta Kaufmann has announced that shooting for the episode to resume in August. David Schwimmer has also appeared in the Jimmy Fallon show and echoed the news to the fans.
• Bob Greenblatt, the head of WarnerMedia Entertainment plans to broadcast the reunion with a big live audience. However, it is speculated that this idea to include a studio audience needs to be dropped.

• James Michael Tyler (Gunther) and (Maggie Wheeler (Janice) are rumored to make special cameos in the show.

• The episode is likely to be named, “The one where they all got back together” and is predicted to be released in late autumn this year. It is reported that each of the six members will be paid $3 million for their special appearance.

• The reunion will be a documentary special where the casts will chat and recall stories from their filming and talk about behind-the-scenes. The show’s original creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane will also be involved in the production of the reunion show.

• The group will be back at their original soundstage, ‘stage 24’ where they worked for 10 years during the shooting of the sitcom. The set will be rebuilt down to the “smallest details of props and other things” said Schwimmer.


Previously in this week, a mini-reunion took place between the three lead female stars of the show. Jennifer, Courtney, and Kudrow shared an Instagram video to take part in the “ I Am a Voter campaign” urging fans to register to vote.
