Our healthcare system relies on the unpaid labour of 9 million carers to care for friends and loved ones across the country. Under-supported and often forgotten, many unpaid carers suffer from health problems as a result of the care they provide. This is where Carefree comes in.
We take the nearly one million hotel rooms that sit empty every week and make them available to carers in need.
Our groundbreaking solution has delivered over 500 life-giving breaks to unpaid carers and won Carefree Third Sector’s Breakthrough Charity of the Year Award in 2019. And it works. 98% of those who took a break with Carefree marked a significant improvement in their well-being and 92% of them reported they couldn’t have accessed a break without our help.
