Prominent Spanish photographer Julian Barón will be talking about his work at the Arnolfini, Bristol, on Thursday 22 February 2018, from 7pm.
The event is first of the season organised by IC-Visual Lab, a Bristol-based photography organisation.
Barón will share his ideas behind his most recent projects, which he has been working on in Spain since 2011: C.E.N.S.U.R.A, Tauromaquia, and Los últimos días vistos del rey and Memorial.
His works are deeply concerned by the political, economic and social issues of his country, which has been in an unprecedented crisis. His peculiar images are manipulated and twisted to explore the representation of power, institutions and the political class.
He also has a keen interest in experimental publications, as well as the possibility between the physical and the digital.
Barón will also make an introduction at the workshop The Cage: Visualising the Housing Crisis, which has been put together in collaboration with The People’s Republic of Stokes Croft.
The event is free for workshop attendants and members of IC Visual Lab. This event is supported by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and Arts Council of England.
You can find more information at icvl.co.uk/thecage, and tickets of £4.50-£6.50 are available on Eventbrite here.
