Donald Trump’s Campaign has requested to recount the votes of two Democratic-leaning counties in Wisconsin. Anika Khan reports.
The former president’s campaign has asked Dane and Milwaukee counties in Wisconsin to conduct recounts after throwing baseless accusations of ballot absentees and voter frauds.
The council of Trump’s campaign, Jim Troupis has told the media that they are seeking to reveal the truth to the people of Wisconsin. He said, “Regrettably, the integrity of the election results cannot be trusted without a recount in these two counties and uniform enforcement of Wisconsin absentee ballot requirements.”
The Wisconsin Elections Commission has already confirmed it received $3 million from the Trump campaign for the recount, and the campaign said it would formally file its recount petition this afternoon.
However, the recount will not reverse the victory of Joe Biden in the state as he has been leading in Wisconsin with over 20,000 votes. Joe Biden has won with 290 electoral votes in the US presidential election.
Thus, even if Trump wins in Wisconsin after the recount, it will not be anywhere near to alter Biden’s victory.
Previously, Wisconsin Elections Commission confirmed that they receive over $3 million dollars from Trump’s campaign as a request to recount the votes in the state.
