There has been no shortage of creativity during the current lockdown, with many bands and artists using this time to release songs with proceeds going directly to charitable causes. Here are our top five picks of lockdown music releases:

Times Like These – Live Lounge Allstars

The BBC brought together some of the biggest and most respected artists from the UK and around the world for this track which was created in support of the global effort to stay safe and stay home during the coronavirus crisis.

JP Saxe, Julia Michaels & Friends – If The World Was Ending

JP Saxe and Julia Michaels recruited a star-studded group of artists for this ‘If the World Was Ending’ Cover, including Sam Smith, H.E.R. and Niall Horan. All proceeds from the track will benefit Doctors Without Borders, with the video featurin a special message from a participating doctor about the impact of COVID-19 on countries where many of the doctors are stationed.

Queen + Adam Lambert – ‘You Are The Champions’ 

This new version of the famous Queen track ‘We Are The Champions’ has been re-released by Queen + Adam Lambert to benefit the World Health Organisations COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. The video for the track drives the sense of urgency home by showing empty cityscapes across the globe, along with frontline workers braving the disease to help those in need.

McFly – All About You

McFly rerecorded their classic hit, ‘All About You’ in support of the NHS. The song was originally released back in 2005 and is one of their most famous hits. Along with the song, the band shared a link to the Virgin Money Giving page for the NHS Charities Together Campaign.

Fleur East – Not Alone

Fleur East, who rose to fame on programmes such as X-Factor and I’m A Celebrity, has released a new track to help raise money for The COVID_19 Appeal. After initially writing the song for an exclusive performance on The One Shop, she decided to write an additional verse and chorus so the song could be released to raise money for the NHS.
