Omar Sy is back as Arsène Lupin, as Netflix’s biggest foreign-language series called Lupin, crashed last year and its first series quickly became one of the most popular shows.

And of course, Lupin 2.0 is another achievement.

Its extremely confident lead actor Omar Sy is a charisma machine. The fictional twist on the cops vs criminal game is equally well done. And the articulation of dialogue is supremely cool.

Again Sy returns as Assane Diop, following in the paths of Arsene Lupin. He came to know about this fictional character to whom his father introduced him. His dad’s suicide, after he was framed for stealing a necklace from his employer Hubert Pellegrini. Here Diop breaks the law for correcting a terrible wrong and carrying Pellegrini to justice.

As well as revenging the death of his father, Diop can’t ignore that his increasingly dangerous line of work is having terrible impacts on his son, his ex-wife, and his childhood friend. This season, therefore, is even more observational than the first and sees the ‘gentleman thief’ realize that the longer the game goes on, the harder it will be for him to live in the shadows.

A third season of the show has already been made to order. Season one and two streaming on Netflix.
