The Alchemist Review

Where to start? The Alchemist is known for their cocktails that bubble, steam and change colours, but did you also know they serve some up pretty damn good grub too?
We were lucky enough to be invited down to the Birmingham branch to sample some of these treats and I must say, they did not disappoint and there is something on the menu for everyone.
For starters, the group sampled the salt & pepper chicken wings, prawn lollipops, vegetable gyozas and the salt & pepper pulled pork.
From the first bite we were knew we on to a winner and only time collective silence is good, is when you’re tucking in.
Next was the mains, from succulent steak to sweet duck and a tasty shawarma cauliflower steak, we were a happy bunch. Good food & good company makes for a delicious evening.
And of course, the drinks!
Bubble bubble toil and trouble… I wanted to cackle like a witch over my bubbling Colour Changing One cocktail and did you know there are selected drinks where you recieve a free hip glass? My Midouri Sour was served in a flask and as I poured it out I shrieked: “it’s green!” much to the amusement of our fabulous waiter Joe.
Other cocktails were sampled, such as the Smokey Number 2, which came to us in a chemistry flasks, and the waiter happily used a device of which I am unsure of the name – and that created lots and lots of smoke.
The Alchemist is the place to go for magic, mystery and science all rolled up into alcohol and nibbles.
We look forward to returning to sample the other treats they have to offer!
