Tasty Tuesday: Christmas macaroons

The holiday season is finally here! It is the perfect time to spend a lousy evening with your kids in making and decorating yummy Christmas macaroons with this simple recipe!

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup egg whites
  • ¼ tsp. cream of tartar
  • pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup almond flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • Brown food color
  • Ready-mix royal icing
  • Favorite Jam

Method:

  • Use an electric hand mixer to make the meringue with the egg whites. Add salt and the cream of tartar, ½ cup sugar, vanilla essence to the meringue. Sift ½ cup sugar, almond flour into a bowl.
  • Fold dry ingredients with the meringue. Use a piping bag to pipe meringues in the baking tray. Rest aside for 40 minutes till a hard outer shell forms. Bake for 15 minutes at 320ËšF. Fill meringues with favorite jam, buttercream fillings, or custard cream.
  • Finally use ready mix royal icing to decorate the reindeer macaroons. Color the icing with black color and brown color to make the eyes and ears. Use red royal icing to make the nose. Tada, you have got yourself some very cute yet delicious macaroons!
