Taco-topia

tacos

Author: Deborah Kaloper
Cultural cooking made simple – what’s not to love? You may think that tacos are easy to make and you need little assistance, but this book lays it out for readers with real authenticity and clarity.
There is so much you can do with tacos – you can mix it up depending on your taste – and this book highlights that fact. The combos suggested are brilliant, and usefully categorised by their main meat component, but there are also vegan & vegetarian options available, and added information about the extra fillings means you can alter your taco as you wish.
The illustrations by Alice Oehr are tasteful and effective, adding a pop of colour to the pages, and the content is very comprehensive, as it covers everything from the taco varieties themselves to the accompaniments (such as sauces and beans) and suitable drinks to go with this iconic Mexican delicacy.
It does take work and patience to create both the wrap and its filling from scratch, however, once complete, you will feel a real sense of achievement, and practicing the method will enable you to refine the craft, so we suggest you try a few recipes from the book and see what works for you.
This is a weighty book with real substance, and the quirky illustrations are true to life, making this collection even more special.
It’s Taco Tuesday, so get your apron out!
