SXSW Unleashes 2021 Virtual Festival Plan

South by Southwest festival will take place virtually from March 16th, 2021 to March 20th, 2021 due to COVID-19. Puza Snigdha reports.

The organizers of the Austin, Texas music festival has confirmed the news and shared the details of the South by Southwest digital event.

“The challenge of building a new future is one that we’re excited to tackle,” said Roland Swenson, SXSW CEO and co-founder.

The event will feature movie screenings, keynote speeches, conferences, and more. The film submission and SXSW EDU will start from 6th of October. Tickets for the online event will also start from the same date.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s festival which was one of the first major events, was canceled. The annual festival was about to celebrate 34th years and this is the first it has been canceled. The festival was sued by ticketholders when the organizers unleashed that the tickets for 2020 are not refundable, as there insurance policy dodn’t cover disease outbreak.

The authorities of the festival are working with City of Austin and public health authorities so that events take place again physically.
