Authority of this vintage plane confirmed that the aircraft was a JU-52 HB-HOT aircraft was flying from Locarno, near Switzerland’s southern border, to the airline’s base in Dübendorf, a suburb of Zurich.
JU-Air said on Sunday that, “The JU-Air team is deeply saddened and is thinking of the passengers, the crew and families and friends of the victims”
JU-Air said it was suspending flights until further notice.
The Federal Office for Civil Aviation blocked the airspace over the crash site. Access to popular hiking trails was also blocked in the surrounding area.
Another plane crash took place in Mexico last week 31 July but no human loss happened as all the passengers safely evacuated from the plane with little or no major injury. Aeromexico said in a statement that, the Embraer 190 aircraft with a capacity of 100 passengers went down during a hail storm on the route from Durango to Mexico City.
