Southbank Centre Announces Eleven Day Literature Festival

The Southbank Centre will host an eleven day (18 – 28 October 2018) literary festival programme featuring exclusive appearances, live readings, award ceremonies and book launches as well as debates and poetry.
The London Literature Festival will feature award-winning literary greats, iconic artists and today’s leading thinkers such as Akala, Carol Ann Duffy, Salman Rushdie and Imtiaz Dharker to celebrate the power of literature and to discuss the burning issues of our generation.
Highlights from this wonderful week will include broadcasters reading from and discussing new books including Sally Field, Olafur Eliasson and Sue Perkins. A series of London exclusive in-conversation events with award-winning British International writers including Marilynne Robinson, Mohsin Hamid, Andre Aciman and Olga Tokarczuk.
Also a reading of Homer’s The Odyssey exploring the theme of homeland commisoned by Southbank Centre in partnership with TLS, performed by a stellar cast.
A series of events discussing controversial topics surrounding society and race with writers and rapper including Akala and David Olosoga. The event will spend its time honouring and awarding the margalined voices in publishing. Visitors will also enjoy a broad range of family events and free activities.
