Snow Patrol – Wildness

This album is, in many ways, very relaxing to listen to. There’s a tinge of sadness within many of the songs which brings the right amount of emotion and substance without being too overbearing.
‘Life on Earth’ is a stand out track because it has an almost melancholy vibe to it; although serious and sombre it is undeniably cool and catchy. It has a powerful instrumental and effective intro that really works alongside the lyrics, which are simple yet uplifting.
‘A Dark Switch’ is another single that made an impression on me; it captured my interest from the first listen and sounded even better the second time around.
Overall this album is polished and slick and makes for real easy listening. Many of the songs have a “feel good” sense about them, and will empower and motivate with their straight-forward messages.
The guys may have suffered from a bout of writer’s block over the past few years but you can tell from this album that they certainly haven’t lost it – their ability to capture a story through song is just as sharp as ever.
