Self-Treatment: 5 ways to treat Covid at home

Most people who become sick with COVID-19 will only experience mild illness and can recover at home. This is necessary to understand when emergency care is needed and what you can do to prevent the spread of infection.

Mild Covid treatments

You can usually treat mild coronavirus symptoms at home. If the symptoms are severe, you may need medical care. While you’re staying at home with coronavirus, you can ease mild symptoms by resting, drinking plenty of fluids, and taking painkillers.

Self-isolation

There are things you can do to treat mild symptoms of coronavirus while you’re staying at home by self-isolating. Stay isolated in one room, away from your family and other people, as much as possible. Open windows to keep air circulating. Use a separate bathroom.

Treating a high temperature

If the temperature is high, get lots of rest. drink plenty of fluids (water is best) to avoid dehydration. Drink enough so your pee is light yellow and clear. You also can take paracetamol or ibuprofen if you feel uncomfortable.

Calming your cough

To calm your cough, avoid lying on your back. Try to lie on your side or sit upright. Have a little honey before bed but do not give honey to babies under 12 months. Studies show the sweet stuff can help ease a cough.

Beating shortness of breath

Resting while sitting can help relax your body and make breathing easier. keep your room cool by turning the heating down or opening a window. Do not use a fan as it may spread the virus, sit upright in a chair and relax your shoulders.
