Save With Stories

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic many schools have been forced to shut, many of which provided vital meals for children from low-income families. So many celebrities have joined together to help raise funds for Save the Children and No Kid Hungry. Tanzia Haq brings you the story.

Since 16 March 2020, actors Amy Adams and Jennifer Garner have been collaborating with Save the Children and the No Kid Hungry organization to raise funds that will feed children across the United States who have been cut off from food supplied by their schools.

In truly wholesome fashion, the actors are joined by other celebrities making short videos from home of them reading children’s books. The initiative, as explained by Adams and Garner, is simply that people will tune in to watch the videos of famous performers and then consider making a donation to savethechildren.org/savewithstories.

In justunder a month, the Instagram account @savewithstories has already uploaded 172 videos from celebrities who are reading stories for children across the golbe. Musicians, actors and news personalities have all taken part and given their time to this cause.

The videos are contibuting to a great cause and helping to provide food and educational materials to the most vulnerable children across America. As explained by the founding stars, 30 million children reliant on their schools for food were affected by the school closures.

Initiatives like these could be replicated across the world to provide the hardest hit among us meet their basic needs to survive this crisis with dignity.
