Russia-Ukraine misleading disinformation of War casualties spreads

Russia-Ukraine attacks are getting worse with each passing day. An escalated attack against Ukraine has been launched with a missile strike hitting a government building and shelling civilian areas in Kharkiv by Russia. The attack was targeted at civilians with cluster and thermobaric bombs which have killed more than 70 Ukrainian soldiers at a military base in Okhtyrka.

  • According to the Russian Defense Ministry report, the number of deaths till now is around 500 country’s soldiers amid the ongoing offensive. Also, nearly 1,600 people were injured during the ongoing attack.
  • Hence the Defense Ministry refuted the casualty and death reports as there have been “countless” casualties. They are claiming Kiev is originating this as deliberate disinformation.
  • On the other hand, the official casualty figures announced by Moscow differ drastically from the claims voiced by Kiev, which mentions more than 5,800 Russian soldiers had perished since the invasion started.
  • Meanwhile, according to the U.N. says some 836,000 people have fled Ukraine in the week since the invasion started 7 days ago.
  • The Russian soldiers who are involved in the attack are comprised solely of professional soldiers as per the military. The military refuted allegations that the invasion force consisted largely of conscripts.
  • After Russia started the invasion on 24 Feb, Moscow launched their invasion of its neighbor last week, as a purpose of protecting the breakaway republics of Donetsk and Lugansk in the country’s east.
  • Moscow also had the implemented goal behind the invasion that to “denazification” and “demilitarization” of Ukraine.
  • Kiev has denied to re-take the republics by force; branding Russia’s assault unprovoked. Donetsk and Lugansk split from Ukraine in 2014, and in 2022 again Russia had formally recognized the two republics as independent states just before the invasion.
