Review: APRE

I recently had the pleasure of catching alternative two-piece APRE on the York date of their 2020 UK tour. The indie-pop duo, comprising members Charlie Brown and Jules Konieczny, lit up the intimate venue, delivering a set that was both highly engaging and technically accomplished.
The boys’ enthusiasm was utterly infectious. As promised, there was ‘dad dancing’ aplenty; watching lead vocalist Charlie bound across the stage to the inimitable groove of Jules on keys was a pure delight. New track ‘You’re Heart’s Like a Jungle’ was well-received, whilst Charlie showed off his impressive live range through the tricky, vocalise-style chorus of catchy single ‘Gap Year 2005’. As talented multi-instrumentalists and charming performers, APRE certainly know how to put on a show.
