Refugee CRISIS: 110 more deaths in the last three days

Four Shipwrecks in the span of the last three days have claimed the lives of over 110 refugees. Bodies of 74 migrants have washed up on the beach of Al-Khums in Western Libya. Anika Khan reports.

According to the official reports, the four boats were carrying over 120 people across the Mediterranean including women and children. The coastguard and local fishermen were able to save 74 people. Over 74 bodies were found floating near the water edge on Thursday.

According to the Charity reports, smugglers have taken the advantage of the weather to smuggle hundreds of migrants to the sea in the last week. The majority of the journeys have however ended in tragedy.

On Wednesday, around 100 migrants were on a small dingy trying to cross to Europe when the boat started to sink. 6 people lost their lives amongst which were a six-month baby named Joseph.

The boy was saved by rescuers from the Spanish Non-governmental organization but however died shortly on the rescue boat.

More than 720,000 migrants have arrived to Europe by crossing the English Channel this year alone. Over 900 have been recorded missing who didn’t make it to the other end.

On the other end, the government has turned a blind eye to the fact that the Mediterranean Sea has become a cemetery.
